As the unified voice for Florida's YMCA movement, we work alongside local YMCAs, community partners, and policymakers to advance solutions that improve the health, well-being, and future of children, families, and communities across our state.  

Why Advocacy Matters
Every day, Florida's YMCAs see firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing Florida families. Whether it's expanding access to quality child care, strengthening out-of-school time programs, preventing childhood drowning, improving literacy, or supporting healthy communities, we bring real experiences and trusted expertise to conversations with decision-makers.
Our advocacy is rooted in the belief that lasting change happens when local voices are heard and communities come together around shared solutions.
 

What We Do
The Florida State Alliance of YMCAs serves as the statewide advocate for Florida's YMCAs by:
Building relationships with state and local policymakers. Monitoring legislation and public policy that impacts YMCAs and the communities we serve. Coordinating statewide advocacy initiatives and legislative engagement. Providing advocacy training, tools, and resources for YMCA staff, volunteers, and board members. Mobilizing grassroots supporters to share their stories and advocate for meaningful change. Developing the next generation of civic leaders through youth advocacy and leadership opportunities.
 

Advocacy is a Year-Round Commitment
Advocacy doesn't begin and end during the legislative session. Throughout the year, we work with our local YMCAs to educate elected officials, host community conversations, provide advocacy training, organize legislative visits, and strengthen relationships that help move our mission forward.
From statewide Advocacy Days at the Florida Capitol to local tours and community events, we create opportunities for YMCA leaders, volunteers, and supporters to engage in the policymaking process and champion issues that strengthen Florida communities.
